Douglas Keir
Douglas is a partner in our Dispute Resolution department.
He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in personal injury litigation. He is also a solicitor advocate.
Douglas specialises in defender liability insurance work and, along with Andrew Lothian, heads up our specialist Insurance Litigation Unit. He regularly advises a number of major insurers and liability adjusters in relation to the full range of insurance issues, including employer’s liability, public liability and motor claims.
He also has considerable experience in health and safety matters in which he works with a wide range of clients providing practical advice and defending prosecutions. He has also represented clients at a number of fatal accident inquiries throughout Scotland.
He has extensive experience in the detailed preparation, analysis and presentation of cases in court and in advising clients generally about the resolution of legal problems and disputes. He is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
Douglas is recognised as a 'Leader in their Field' by law directory Chambers UK 2011 for both Personal Injury; Defendant, and Health and Safety.
