Employers must take care if sacking staff over riots

Human beings, rioters and looters all have rights under the European Convention of Human Rights.
Boris Johnson reportedly dubbed the Kaiser Chiefs "the weeds from Leeds". Perhaps he now wishes he had taken heed of their prediction.
Police are placing CCTV images on Flickr and in the press of people “they wish to speak to”. Many are seen indulging in vandalism and looting. People are being identified. Employers, also apparently having failed to note the Chiefs’ timeous warning, are hurriedly asking their lawyers "Can I sack a rioter?” In response many are being told “Do so….and I predict a claim”.
So what are an employee’s rights?
