Victoria J W Simpson
Victoria is a senior associate in Private Client services.
She is accredited as a specialist in charity law by the Law Society of Scotland.
Victoria deals with wills, estate planning, personal tax planning, powers of attorney, trusts and guardianship issues.
Victoria also advises on all aspects of charity law including formation and appropriate legal form, mergers and amalgamations, governance issues, regulatory requirements, reorganisations, OSCR investigations, winding up, fundraising, trading issues, trustees’ duties and responsibilities, tax, accounting and investment issues.
Victoria has particular expertise in charitable companies and tax law relating to charities. She regularly speaks about these issues at seminars and training events.
She is also a charity director and trustee of a major Scottish charity in a personal capacity and therefore has first hand experience of the issues which affect charities today.
Victoria is both tax and investment qualified. She holds the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification, is a member of the ATT professional body and sat on the ATT Education Committee Working Party. She also holds the Securities Institute Investment Advice Certificate and is an Associate of the Securities Institute. Victoria sat on the recent Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) focus group to comment on this new legal structure.
Victoria was also a tutor at Edinburgh University on the Diploma in Legal Practice in Finance, Tax and Investment for seven years.
