Murray McCall
Murray heads up the Employment and Pensions unit in our Glasgow office and has specialised in employment law for 14 years.
He advises on all aspects of employment and discrimination law and has a strong reputation for pragmatic and commercial advice.
His client base comprises organisations in the commercial, public and education sectors as well as senior executives and other high profile individuals.
He acts for a range of UK companies, covering sectors as diverse as petrochemicals, retail, bioscience and hotels and leisure. In the commercial sphere, he regularly advises employers on restructuring, industrial relations, collective redundancies, TUPE and the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
He also acts for a number of Scottish public authorities and has recently advised on significant re-organisations, the TUPE aspects of the contracting out of services, employment relations and voluntary severance issues. He has recently advised and represented a local authority in relation to a high profile employment issue which involved COSLA, Audit Scotland and the Accounts Commission. He has successfully represented local authority councillors before the Standards Commission for Scotland and has carried out training for Councils on ethical standards as well as employment issues.
Murray acts for a number of education clients and is experienced in handling the particular challenges which arise in that sector including re-organisations, union disputes, discrimination, absence and performance issues.
He has spoken on a range of employment and discrimination issues at conferences for Central Law Training, the Law Society of Scotland and at a White Paper Conference in Northern Ireland. He carries out bespoke employment training for clients across the UK and has been a tutor on the Masters in Employment Law course for Robert Gordon’s University. He appears regularly in the press and on the radio, commenting on a wide range of employment and discrimination issues.
Murray is a member of the Employment Law Group, the Scottish Discrimination Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Association.
