Deborah Lovell


Deborah is a partner in our Commercial Real Estate department.
She advises on all aspects of commercial real estate, in particular property aspects of company acquisitions, cross border transactions, portfolio acquisitions and sales, cross border transactions and property aspects of transport projects (including both Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport rail link projects), secured lending and landlord and tenant. She has been involved in some of our largest property transactions.
Deborah is part of the team that advises The Crown Estate, whose consent is required for any project affecting the UK seabed, on all marine renewables energy projects including: completion of ten agreements for lease for the world’s first commercial wave and tidal electricity project in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters area, managing the wave and tidal projects for the Saltire Prize, legal areements for all offshore wind projects including round 3 and Scottish Teritorial Waters wind farms.
Deborah has a particular interest and involvement in Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) issues and profit sharing/overage agreements and regularly speaks on these topics to other professionals and members of the property industry. She is a member of the Scottish Property Federation Tax Group and the Scottish Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group and sits on the Law Society of Scotland Tax Committee sub-group on SDLT.
Deborah is a member of the Law Society of Scotland Conveyancing Committee and the WS Society Knowledge Services Committee. Deborah is Signet Accredited in Commercial Property by the WS Society and sits on the WS Society Signet Accreditation Committee for the Commercial Property module.
She is also recognised as a 'Leader in their Field' by law directory Chambers UK 2012 for Real Estate (Scotland).
