Alasdair Fox


After 40 years in the firm, as a Partner and, for many years, head of land resources Department, Alasdair retired at the end of August 2010. However he continues to be associated with the firm as a consultant in a support role.
Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in agricultural Law, he is widely regarded as a leader in rural Law generally and agricultural law and land reform in particular, having lectured, advised and commented (both in writing and to the media) extensively on all such topics. Branded a 'Senior Statesman' by leading legal directory Chambers UK 2012, Alasdair is also recognised as a 'leader in their field' for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (Scotland).
He continues to be a member of the Law and Taxation Committee of Scottish Land and Estates and is the author of quarterly briefings in the Law Society of Scotland’s journal. He is co-author (with the Lord Justice Clerk Gill) of agricultural holdings styles and also annotated Part 2 (Community Right to Buy) of The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 for Current Law Styles and recently updated the annotations.
Alasdair is a member of the Scottish Arbiters and Valuers Association and a trained mediator.
