Alan Masson

Alan is a Partner in our Employment and Pensions Unit.

He acts primarily for employers, many of them household names and also for high profile individuals, principally at director level. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Employment Law and sits as an Employment Judge.

Alan is also recognised as a 'Leader in their Field' by leading legal directory Chambers UK 2012 for Employment (Scotland).

He has developed extensive employment law experience over many years, in both the private and public sectors dealing with a wide range of issues, from large-scale redundancies and plant closures, to public sector equal pay issues and the negotiation and variation of individual contracts of employment. Chambers 2011 hails his “mastery” of all employment issues affecting the public sector.

His experience covers workforce issues in acquisitions and mergers, contracting out in the public and private sectors, PFI and PPP projects, restructuring and reorganisation of workforces in the public and private sectors including collective consultation issues, the imposition of changes to terms and conditions involving large-scale work forces, credit crunch salary sacrifice arrangements, industrial relations disputes in the private and public sectors, disciplinary and grievance issues at all levels and problems involving all forms of statutory discrimination and bullying and harassment.

Alan delivers training for employers and umbrella organisations in employment law matters. He has written many articles for general readership consumption, both in newspapers such as The Scotsman and online for Workplacelaw.net and Complinet.

Alan is a Writer to the Signet and the Avocat-Conseil accredited to the French Consulate General in Scotland.
